Goals update 2011 - Weeks 8 - 12
Well I'm tired of making excuses and I'm tired of not getting anything done so here we go. The first three weeks of this last update were mostly spent playing Halo: Reach. Great game, but it doesn't get any hobby work done and if I'm going to even come close to any of my goals I need to get cracking.
This week I started work on finishing the last six Riflemen for my Houseguard unit. I'm batch painting them. It's not my favorite way to paint, but it needs to be done so that I can get some sort of volume out of my hobby time.
I thought I would post pictures of the process, step by step.
Step 1. GW Hawk Turquoise base coat for the armor.
Step 2. GW Asurmen Blue wash, to provide some depth.
Step 3. GW Ice Blue drybrushed over the armor for highlights & texture.
Step 4. GW Chaos Black painted over all of the straps, pouches, & gun.
This part is hard because I have to cut in so much, but to do it before the armor drybrush would just mean I'd have to go over it again anyway. Of course, because of all of the cutting in, I've gotten black on some of the armor as well. It's kind of a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation.
That's where I'm at as of this morning. Next up will be to fabric on the leggings and the bedroll on the backpack and probably the silver on the gun.
Until next time,
-Jack
